The Office of Internasional Affairs (OIA)-UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Held A Workshop on Writing Scientific Papers With The Theme of Practical Writing to Produce Scientific Works That Are Worthy of Publication

Located at the Swarna Dwipa hotel, November 2, 2021, The Office of International Affairs-UIN Raden Fatah Palembang held activities for UIN Raden Fatah Palembang students. By presenting two invited speakers, Prof. Dr. Mulyadi Eko Purnomo, M.Pd (Sriwijaya University) and Dr. Muji Gunarto S.Si, M. Si (Bina Darma University), PLI invited student representatives from nine faculties as well as postgraduate master students. Not only that, PLI UIN Raden Fatah invited representatives of Bina Darma students.

In accordance with the purpose of this workshop, these 30 students are expected to be able to write practically and produce scientific papers that are worthy of publication.

As chief executive, Dr. Helen Sabera Adib reported the number of participants, organizers and expectations of this activity.  Vice Rector 3 of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, Dr. Hamidah and accompanied by the head of office of Internasional Affairs, Mrs. Susi Herti Afriani, M Hum officially opened the event.

This activity is expected to encourage students especially at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang understand how to write scientific papers in good and correct Indonesian and get to know reputable international journals. Students are expected to continue to improve their reading and writing skills and learn to start publishing their research results.

Coordination Meeting of PTKIN Cooperation Division of the Directorate of Higher Education and Religious Affairs-Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia: Preparation of the final draft of SOP for Foreign Students (International) Bogor, 21-23 April 2021

Located in the hotel D’Anaya Bogor, Indonesia, the head of the Office of International Affairs State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang together with the Head of the Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Negeri (PTKIN) International Office throughout Indonesia attended the Coordination Meeting for PTKIN Cooperation at the Directorate of Higher Education for Islamic Religion, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Together with nearly 31 participants from all over Indonesia, this meeting especially improves the technical guidelines for developing cooperation, particularly how we manage the arrival and admission of foreign students in Indonesia.

Director of Diktis, Prof. Suyitno, first conveyed directions and points regarding the intended technical instructions and hoped that the office of International Affairs from each campus in Indonesia would become a “campus window” as the leading sector in the field of cooperation. Second, the Director of Diktis conveyed that in relation to the management of foreign students, there is a need for technical guidance based on a mixture of online and physical learning. In his remarks, Prof. Suyitno emphasized the knowledge and mastery of Indonesian for foreign speakers as signs and guarantees of the certainty of academic ability to study in Indonesia.

The latest policy from the Ministry of Religious Affairs is the highlighting of the need for Islamic insight for foreign students. The Director of Diktis’ speech was continued by opening the coordination meeting officially. Furthermore, the head of sub-Directorate of Institution and Cooperation PTKIN (Adib Abdushomad, PhD) delivered material on the need to internationalize PTKIN institution through networking and collaboration. We need space to network and also space to work together. If you want to invite foreign students, then Adib Abdushomad, PhD said that at least we have world-class education and learning facilities, opportunities to work / gain experience while studying, scholarships, clear entry processes, affordable living costs and experience at university. The hope is, in 2022 a new scheme can be prepared to provide scholarships for foreign students in the PTKIN environment.

The Head of Sub-Directorate of Institution and Cooperation continued that the importance of collaboration is in order to invite and encourage foreign students who have good academic qualifications to study in Indonesia, provide opportunities for student exchanges and staff exchanges from Indonesia abroad, and understand the academic culture better. To prepare interest and accept foreign students, at least the University must prepare an international standard International Cooperation office, adequate learning facilities, accommodation, scholarships, and a high-quality process.             Therefore, to recruit these international students, Adib Abdushomad, PhD suggested working with universities abroad, holding exhibitions, using social media platforms and websites that provide information in at least Arabic, English and Mandarin. This coordination meeting lasts three days and it is hoped that the final draft results can be used as a guide in PTKIN (SHA).

Workshop on Website Development and Translation of Content into English and Arabic at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, 9-11 April 2021

Located at The Zuri Palembang hotel, Office of the International Affairs-UIN Raden Fatah Palembang held a Website Development Workshop and Content Translation into English and Arabic. The workshop is attended by 34 participants consisting of leaders, lecturers, and staffs in the UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, University of Sriwijaya, State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya, and UIGM. The main objective of this workshop is to produce website content translated into English and Indonesian (Bahasa) which can be useful not only for UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, but also for people in the international world. As the main “face” of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in relation to the world of international education, a web management team and translator in the two languages ​​were appointed.

The event was officially opened on Friday, April 9, 2021 by the Vice Rector 3 for Cooperation. As a plan for translating the content of the website, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) has made a draft design to fill out the website. The contents of the website comprised of “home”, “about us”, “partnership”, “scholarship”, “OIA news”, “frequently asked questions” and “contact us”.

This activity lasted for three days and involved all translators with specialization in English and Arabic at the master and doctoral level. After being translated, the editors from the two English and Arabic teams reviewed the translation results. Through this activity, it is expected that the creation of OIA website has easy access, benefits to the community, and has an international standard (SHA/AA)

The First Meeting With New Head Of The International Office-State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang

            Located in the meeting room at Campus B (Jakabaring)- State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang; The Vice Rector 3 (Dr. Hamidah) and The Head of the International Office UIN Raden Fatah Palembang (Susi Herti Afriani, M. Hum) with Amalia Hasanah, Ed.D (The Head of English study program), Manalullaili, M.Ed (Vice Dean 2 of Faculty of Da’wah and Communication), Eka Sartika (Lecturer at English Study program), and Dr. Delima Engga Mareta (Vice Dean 2 of Faculty of Science and Technology) discussed some urgent points for the development of the International Office (hereafter referred as IO).

One of them is the agenda of developing the International Office Website in English. Furthermore, Dr. Hamidah delivered and asked some huge ideas related internship program for our students and re-new the MOU between UIN Raden Fatah and some university in Malaysia. Moreover, Dr. Delima as the Vice Dean 2 informed the possibility for MOU between Faculty of Science and Technology UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and one of the University in New Zealand. Rector of UIN Raden Fatah signed MoU with SEAMEO SEAMOLEC

Located in the library at Jakabaring campus, Rector of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang opened the E-learning improvement workshop entitled “Pengembangan Bahan Ajar berbasis Video dan Animasi” (Improving teaching with video and animation based materials) held on March 8th – 10th 2021.

Rector of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah, M. Si, while opening the workshop, also signed the MoU with the director of SEAMOLEC, Alpha Amirrachman, M.Phil., Ph.D. (8/3)

In his speech, the director of SEAMOLEC, Alpha Amirrachman, M. Phil., Ph.D. hoped that both SEAMOLEC and UIN Raden Fatah would successfully synergize and work together in creating trainings or other workshops. In the era of Covid-19 pandemic, distance learning is needed because it is more effective for lecturers. Many things need to be prepared by the lecturers.  One of them is developing the teaching with video-and-animation-based materials.

Rector, in her opening speech, stated that distance learning has already been held previously and currently after the pandemic hit. The difference was, before the pandemic, our campus suggested our lecturers to have the teaching and learning process through our E-learning platform, and because it was elective, it did not run maximally.

“UIN Raden Fatah needs to have a collaboration with SEAMOLEC to be able to implement the training for lecturers. It is very important for UIN Raden Fatah’s lecturers to join this kind of training to accelerate their capability in teaching-learning process and improve teaching materials,” said Rector of UIN Raden Fatah.

She continued, “In this pandemic era, we are forced to have the distance learning in our teaching and learning process, so that the need of technology, the improvement of teaching application and the development of teaching materials are mostly required as trained by SEAMOLEC team for the last 3 days. We hope that in the future our lecturers who enrolled in the training would gain their knowledge and could transfer it smoothly so that the distance learning can be done in a more effective and efficient way.” (ES&AH)

UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Collaborates with Uskudar University of Turkey

Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Palembang, which has a vision to become an international standard university, continues to strive to realize this vision by collaborating with well-known universities from other countries. Currently one of the universities targeted for collaboration with UIN Raden Fatah Palembang is Uskudar University of Turkey. UIN Raden Fatah was represented by the Vice Rector I, Dr. Ismail Sukardi, M.Ag signed the MoU and conveyed various agreements and wishes of the two institutions of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and Uskudar University of Turkey in various fields. The Rector of Uskudar University warmly welcomed and was proud of the presence of the Senate Delegation of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and would even soon realize the various agreements in the MoU.

Although Uskudar University has more study programs in the field of health sector, it has the study program of Psychology, Science, Technology and Sufism. The meeting was also accompanied by the light discussions regarding the profiles of the two institutions and by exchanging souvenirs. Then, it was followed by photo sessions and friendly chat. The Rector really expected to have chances to visit UINRF Palembang in the near future (AA & DW).

The 6th ISSHMIC is officially opened today (October 15, 2019)

The 6th International Seminar on Social Humanities and Malay Islamic Civilization (ISSHMIC) was officially opened by the Rector of UIN Raden Palembang. The seminar took place for 2 days, October 15 to 16, 2019 at Harper Hotel, Palembang.

The activity began with the committee report, delivered by Dr. Ismail Sukardi, M.Ag. who said that the activity was attended by 350 participants, consisting of keynote speakers, guest speakers (call for paper presenters), and participants from various domestic and foreign universities.

In his remarks, the Rector of UIN Rafah Palembang, Prof. Drs. H.M. Sirozi, M.A., Ph.D., said that the 6th International Seminar on Social Humanities and Malay Islamic Civilization (ISSHMIC) discussed “the actual Islamic values ​​of the surrounding environment in the millennial era”.  This seminar was  very useful for those who attended.

Meanwhile Dr. Uyun Salim as the Chair of the Seminar Organizing Committee said that the 6th International Seminar featured 2 keynote speakers; Prof. Dr. M. Amin Abdullah (the Professor of Philosophy, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta), and Prof. Drs. H.M. Sirozi, M.A. Ph.D., (the Rector of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang) as well as other guest speakers and speakers who were involved in 9 sub-themes. (AA & AH)

Information Sharing on Scholarship from Germany with Dr. Thomas Gotz

FAHUM-UINRF – Monday, October 15, 2018, the Faculty of Science and Technology of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, invited a guest lecturer from Germany, Dr. Thomas Gotz who arrived at the beginning of October, 2018.

Biology Study Program invited Dr. Thomas Gotz to discuss and present the materials on how to find master degree scholarships abroad. Thirty two students of Biology Study Program, class of 2018 were present at the 3rd floor of the FST 02 Building.

Dr. Thomas Gotz did not only explain the scholarships in Germany, but also the ones in other countries. “Don’t just focus on one scholarship and one environment, but look for as many scholarships as possible even though it is outside the scope of your campus”, said the Lecturer.

FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY WAS VISITED BY SES GERMANY

Bravo Psychology – Monday, September 10, 2018, the Faculty of Psychology, UIN Raden Fatah, was visited by the representative of SES Germany, Prof. Dr. phil. Sabine Brombach (Professor of Social Workers with an area of expertise in Basic Education for Children). The visit of SES Germany was accompanied by Renny Kurnia Sari, M.Pd from the Office of International Affairs of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. From the results of this visit, an agreement was made to hold an International Lecturer with the theme “Gender: Role and Developmental” which was held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. This activity was attended by lecturers and students of the Faculty of Psychology and public. This activity was conducted successfully. (WAR & AH)

Vice Rector 3 of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and Head of the International Office and Partnership attended the Coordination Meeting of the Vice Rectors Forum-PTKIN for Cooperation in 2021

Located at Novotel Bandung, the Vice Rector 3 of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang (Dr. Hamidah) and head of the International Service Center (Susi Herti Afriani, M. Hum) attended the coordination meeting of the PTKIN Cooperation Vice Rectors Forum from 29 to 31 March 2021.

Starting with the recitation of the holy Koran and continued with singing the Indonesian national anthem, the coordination meeting began. After the speech was delivered by the chairman of the Vice Rectors Forum for Cooperation and Institutions (Prof. Dr. Hj. Ulfiah, M. Si), the Rector of UIN Sunan Gunung Jati Bandung also gave a speech and officially opened the event.

At 19.30 WIB, the event was continued by listening to directions from the Director General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, which has a center at universities throughout Indonesia. Attended by around 70 participants, this meeting is expected to strengthen the network of cooperation, which is not just a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), but is also expected to be the implementation of the MOU.

Through this forum, participants are expected to have the same perception between the international offices of all PTKIN throughout Indonesia. In addition, this forum is expected to encourage the existence of the international office.

In addition to strengthening PTKIN Collaboration, the Head of the Cooperation Sub-Directorate (Adib Abdushomad PhD) said that the Guidelines for Cooperation under PMA number 40 of 2020. With this guidance, PTKIN throughout Indonesia is expected to collaborate with abroad and show the quality of its universities through networking and collaboration.

Through the policies and direction for the development of PTKI Cooperation, the Dirjen Pendis (Prof. Ramdhani) expects a commitment to work together to build PTKIN. One of them is through cooperation opportunities such as student / staff exchange, research, expert invitation and double degree.

The coordination meeting will be followed by material on opportunities for educational cooperation in Germany. The second day was followed by a discussion on Cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Al-Jazair. The event will be closed with an evaluation of the 2020 Cooperation Program and the 2021 Work Plan on the third day.
